Relationships have become quite difficult in today’s diverse world among young people. The most difficult kind of romantic relationship to handle is long distance.

Ladies, particularly from Moi University, prefer to be single rather than have a partner who is available ‘in spirit’.

Lucy Mwanyika a third-year student at the Kesses-based institutions says she cannot be in a distant engagement because she has sexual urges that need to be satisfied regularly. This is impossible to happen if her ‘lover’ is far away.

“Trust is key to any kind of courtship. If my boyfriend is out of sight, I will always feel like as if he is cheating on me. This will just make me end up being insecure and stressed up over issues that might be imaginary," said Jane Adhiambo a fourth year.

Clara Mbui, an Education student thinks that a long distance relationship is meant to fail since bonding is a key factor and enables one to clearly understand the person they are in love with.

“If we only meet once a month how can we learn to be comfortable with each other,” said Mbui.

Lastly, Lydia Wamboi who is a second-year believes that a relationship is all about companionship thus when two lovebirds are apart it will only lead to loneliness.

“I will have no one to take me out or celebrate special occasions with. That has no difference with being single,” noted Wamboi.

Some people, however, manage such relationships and even end up having a happy life ever after!
