Samuel Omwando, who doubles as Kisii County ODM Chairman, maintained that DP Ruto won't succeed to oppose the referendum just like in 2010.

He argued that most of the Jubilee politicians are supporting the referendum, adding that Dr Ruto will remain isolated.

"DP Ruto's remarks while in Turkana county few days ago clearly indicated that he is opposed to referendum. I wish to remind him that his attempt to stop the referendum won't be fruitful because even President Uhuru Kenyatta is supporting the referendum," said Omwando.

The former Kitutu Chache South MP hopeful reiterated a referendum must be conducted before 2022 polls.

Omwando urged politicians to join the referendum push, adding that the huge burden are being subjected to people should be reduced.

"Kenyans paying taxes are struggling with high levels of poverty in villages. The referendum will at least reduce the burden on poor Kenyans. DP Ruto and his few confused allies must be ignored," he stated.

He was speaking on Tuesday at Mwamosioma village in Nyamataro, Kisii County.
