Speaking at the scene of occurrence, James Mokaya one of the traders who owned a cyber cafe in the building and vended sodas decried on the damages caused. He has lost photocopying machines, binding machines, paper cutter, and fridges.

“The remains of my machines were stolen by street urchins and sold as scrap before I had arrived at the scene,” Mokaya bemoaned.

Mokaya issued a plea to the Kisii County Government to assist by compensating him in order to get his business up and running. The business has been his source of income after retiring as Kenya Bus manager in 1998.

He rallied to the County boss to invest more in fire fighting equipment so as to manage fire outbreaks in the County.

The victim further advised the Kisii Disaster Management team to be agile in dealing out with fire outbreaks.

“The business licenses we pay accommodates Sh 2500 that should cater for fire rescue and accidents but this money seems to be embezzled," explained another victim.
