Three men are currently being held at the Kisii Central Police Station after they were nabbed with forged documents on Friday.
The three suspects who police declined to reveal their names were arrested at Kisii birth certificate registry office.
Kisii Police Commander Martin Kibet said the three were found in possession of fake rubber stamps, new school leaving certificate forms, new hospital cards and books among many other documents.
"The suspects have been conning residents who visit the birth registry office to apply for birth certificates. The suspects forty days reached and they will be taken to court on Monday to be charged," said Kibet.
Kibet said police were notified by members of the public about the suspects' dealings leading to their arrest.
He assured that police will not tolerate people forging documents with the sole purpose of conning poor residents.
"Residents should be vigilant and ensure they report anyone they suspect is out to con them in the name of helping them acquire birth certificates. The documents should be given for free," he stated.
The commander appealed to residents not to take shortcuts to earn a living.
