Speaking at a public rally in Matungu on Saturday, Echesa said that he once attended an adult school to better his education after he was appointed into office as CS.

He interestingly said that he was in the same class with Mombasa Governor Ali  Hassan Joho.

He noted that he was surprised to meet the second-term county boss at the school when he wanted to improve his level of knowledge.

"Mimi vile nilipewa kazi ya uaziri, mnajua masomo [yangu] ilikuwa chini kidogo, nikasema niende kwa gumbaru. (When I was appointed as a minister, I saw the need to join an adult school since I lacked the required education).

"Ile gumbaru nilienda yule nilipata Joho. Kwa hiyo gumbaru, mtu mjinga wa mwhisho alikuwa Joho, (I met Joho in that school. He was the poorest student)," he narrated.

Echesa also said that Central Organization of Trade Union (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli has no moral authority to talk about the successor of President Uhuru Kenyatta before 2022.

It all started after Atwoli said that he is sure the Deputy President William Ruto will not contest for the nation’s top post because his name won’t appear on the ballot papers.

Atwoli also said that the greatest prayer is to see Ruto not rise to power when that time comes.
