Opposition leader Raila Odinga has landed in Kisumu on Saturday ahead of the 25th anniversary of departed founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
The former Prime Minister was on Saturday received by Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang' Nyong'o ahead of the function set to celebrate the fallen freedom fighter and skilled politician.
The two are set to address a public lecture at the Rambara Eve's Conference Center before opening the anniversary celebration.
"Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyongo receives H.E Raila Odinga in Kisumu. They are set to grace the 25th Anniversary of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga with a public lecture at the Rambara Eve's Conference Center. Also present are a host of leaders from across the region," reads a tweet posted on the NASA twitter handle.
Leaders who accompanying Raila for the event include Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong', Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, Alego Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi among others.
Oginga died in January 1994 while receiving treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu before being ferried to Nairobi's Lee Funeral home.
At the time of his death, he was the Bondo lawmaker, a seat that was later inherited by his first born son and East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) parliamentarian Oburu Oginga.
Raila who doubles up as the African Union Infrastructure Development Envoy is his second born son and the most popular member of the family.
