At the burial of a driver attached to Likuyani MP Enock Kibunguchy, Wetangula was reportedly shielded from possible death by a local MCA who sustained serious injuries.

Despite police linking the fracas to misunderstanding, Wetangula now says unknown people were after his soul.

“I saw the police who shot the MCA and he was aiming at us. I am perturbed that the bullet was meant for me,” claimed Mr Wetang'ula.

And Kapomboi MCA Ben Wanjala, who shielded Wetangula from the alleged bullet, insisted that the police had aimed at his party boss.

“The bullet which shot me was meant for Mr Wetang'ula, it missed him by a whisker,” said Mr Wanjala who is receiving treatment at Mt Elgon hospital in Kitale.

Police have since confiscated firearms to officers who were linked to the fatal shooting.

Further, Dr. Kibunguchy has been summoned to furnish police with information after he sensationally claimed that Wetangula and him were the prime targets.
