Chief Justice David Maraga held a closed-door meeting with a section of Cabinet Secretaries under the leadership of Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i at his offices at Supreme Court buildings.
Apparently, the meeting came just two days after the President of the Supreme Court was castigated of attending a roadside rally in Kisii which was addressed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
But on Friday, Maraga discussed with the government on how to expedite several cases which have held back government projects worth Sh350 billion.
"Led cabinet colleagues, CS James Macharia, CS Farida Karoney and Attorney General Paul Kihara, among other Government officials, for a meeting with Chief Justice David Maraga today.
"We discussed possible areas of collaboration between the Executive and the Judiciary with a view of expediting the processing of backlogged court cases that have held back Government projects worth over KShs 350 billion," Matiang'i wrote on Twitter.
The Interior Minister was recently elevated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to head monitoring and communicating progress of all government projects, a move seen as a backroom deal of making him informal Prime Minister.
The CJ has often come under sharp criticism from government mandarins with President Uhuru Kenyatta accusing the judiciary of derailing the fight against graft.
On Thursday, Senators led by James Orengo poked holes at Maraga's presence in Uhuru's rally, claiming that it was 'bad manners' and therefore unprecedented.
