Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has suspended 16 county officials following the tragedy at Precious Talent School on Monday morning.
A classroom wall collapsed killing eight pupils and left 64 others with injuries.
The suspended officials are from the Urban Planning Department.
"Given the foregoing, I have, therefore, suspended the following Nairobi City County Government officials with immediate effect, to facilitate impartial investigations that have commenced into this unfortunate incident and the conclusion of the ongoing comprehensive systems audit in the Urban Planning Department," wrote Sonko on Facebook Wednesday.
The city boss assured residents after the incidence that he will not settle until rogue officials flouting Physical Planning Regulations are dealt with to return sanity in the department.
He has since appointed Pauline Kahiga, the CeC in charge of Finance and Economic Planning to hed head Urban Planning docket under acting capacity.
He also appointed Veska Kangogo as the Health CeC on acting capacity.
The injured students were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment.
He also vowed to settled all the funeral expenses of the eight pupils who died on Monday.
