A number of leading entertainers, officials from Safaricom and other members of Twaweza Live are camped at the Coast to launch new dealer outlets, set up new base stations, carry out local talent auditions, provide free medical services and offer entertainment.
Having opened a key base station in Taveta’s Holili market on Tuesday, the crew is now headed to Watamu to launch a similar facility on July 24th. The base stations will improve the mobile phone network in the area.
A local talent audition, where upcoming stars from the area are given a platform to showcase their talent with a promise to do partnership deals with established artists, took place at Pride Inn Shanzu.
The popular ‘Blaze Be Your Own Boss’ concert will happen at Mombasa Sports Club on July 27th. The campaign aims to empower the youth by teaching them vital financial and business skills that will help them make their ventures profitable.
Top artists such as Nyashinski, Mercy Masika, Redsan, DJ Joe Mfalme, comedian Njugush among others are in the Twaweza Live caravan to entertain those who will attend. They will also play a key part in helping the budding artists grow.
In a bid to bring services closer to customers, the Twaweza Live crew will launch four new dealer outlets, spread across the Coast. In Mombasa County, Cardinal Dealer Shop at Bamburi will be opened on Monday while in neighbouring Kwale, Simba Telcom will be unveiled on Saturday to serve South Coast residents.
Safaricom customers in Kilifi County will access from Matrix Comms in Watamu, whose official opening is set for July 24th when the crew will be in the area. Already, a new dealer outlet has been launched in Mwatate to serve the people of Taita Taveta County.
Of all the activities, one of the most anticipated ones is the medical camp, set for July 27th in Shanzu. Through the Safaricom Foundation, the residents will be given free medical checkups for diseases such as eye examination, diabetes, dental and high blood pressure among others.
The company’s foundation has partnered with M-Toba and the Kenya Diabetes Management and Information Centre in an effort to attend to at least 12,000 people across the country.
The Twaweza Live events aim to link people to life-changing opportunities while promoting healthy living.
