It is evident that there is a growing rift between Governor Ali Hassan Joho and Deputy President William Ruto.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party youth supporters recently held demonstrations to show that they are not pleased with DP Ruto's camp who have been verbally attacking the Mombasa County boss.
The same day, another video emerged where the Mombasa governor called DP Ruto the most corrupt person in the Country.
This verbal spat is not healthy. DP Ruto's allies and Joho's allies should not wash their dirty linen in public.
The politics of character assassination is a dangerous game that should be avoided at all cost.
To call someone a drug baron without clear proof is akin to crossing the boundaries. On the other hand, to call someone the most corrupt in the country without proof only shows that your case is a weak one.
Instead of calling each other names, the two opposing camps should battle supremacy battles by proving what they have done to their respective electorates.
Their track-record should speak for them.
l would like to agree with President Uhuru Kenyatta that it is too early to start succession politics.
He urged politicians to focus on achieving the big-four agenda.
Governor Joho and DP Ruto should shelve their future political ambitions and instead deliver on their mandate first.
Lastly, their supporters should know that when two giants fight, it is the grass that suffers.
