Ali Roba is the Mandera County Governor serving his second term in office.
Roba was first elected in 2013 on the United Republic Party (URP) ticket. He retained the governor seat in the 2017 general election on a Jubilee Party ticket.
Governor Roba quit a lucrative career in piloting to venture into active politics.
Before joining active politics, Roba was Chief Pilot with DAC East Africa.

In an interview, Roba said that piloting was paying but his desire to serve humanity made him quit.
“Piloting had money but it was not satisfying because my desire was always to serve the people,” he said.
Governor Roba, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto has been rated among high performing governors in the country.
Roba has been described as a person with 'nine lives of a cat' after surviving suspected Al-Shabaab terror attacks three times.
He has been vocal in castigating the terror militants.
With the 2022 succession debate gaining momentum, Governor Roba is definitely among top politicians who will play a key role in the 2022 succession politics.
Roba has been quoted saying that he has the interest to serve Kenyans in a bigger capacity and a section of North Eastern politicians are said to be pushing DP Ruto to pick Roba as his 2022 running mate.
