A Chinese man who was on Thursday arrested for spewing racist remarks against Kenyans should be jailed at Kamiti Maximum Security Prison, a prominent lawyer has said.
Ekuru Aukot, who is also the Thirdway Alliance party leader, said Liu Jiaqi should first be jailed in Kenya before he is deported to his country of origin.
The Chinese national was arrested after he was caught on camera referring to Kenyans and President Uhuru Kenyatta as monkeys.
"This racist Chinese, #LiuJiaqi , must first feel the weight of Kenyan law before he is deported. He must be sent to Kamiti maximum prison first. Deporting him first before jail weakens our own law and amounts to a big threat to him," Aukot posted on his official Twitter handle.
The 2017 presidential candidate was reacting to a statement from the Immigration Department indicating Jiaqi was being processed for deportation on grounds of racism.
"Chinese National by the Name Liu Jiaqi who was captured on video yesterday using abusive words has been arrested. His work permit has been cancelled," read part of the statement.
The man under siege had been operating a motorcycle shop in Ruiru Town in Kiambu County.
Chinese workers have been battling accusations of mistreating Kenyans working under them particularly in the Standard Gauge Railway project.
