A section of Jubilee Party leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto are now accusing opposition leader of dishonesty in his push for national healing.
The leaders are accusing the former Premier of being insincere in his March 9 truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta and national unification and restoration campaign.
Raila has since urged leaders to desist from discussing the approaching 2022 presidential elections and let the nation heal from the 2017 divisive presidential elections.
However, according to Kapseret lawmaker Oscar Sudi, the leader is being unrealistic, and is targeting his opponent's allies yet his own foot-soldiers are busy engaging in politicking.
He gave an instance of Siaya Senator James Orengo who has been very vocal about Raila's possible next moves, wondering why Raila is bitter when others talk politics.
“If Orengo speaks about 2022 and says Raila will be on the ballot, he is treated as an angel but when we go around the country with the DP to launch projects, we are demonised over claims we are campaigning for 2022 elections.
"This is dishonesty of the highest order,” he told the Nation on phone, this Thursday.
Another of Ruto's lieutenant and Soy lawmaker Caleb Kositany claimed that the veteran politician has been busy cajoling Uhuru to back his 2022 presidential bid.
He added that Raila is bitter with Ruto as he seems more likely to win basing on his (Ruto) track record.
“His (Raila’s) lieutenants have been busy trying to cajole the President to support him in 2022 yet he keeps on asking Kenyans to stop such a debate.
"For us with the DP, we are overseeing development projects. We know he cannot separate development and politics that is why he keeps on criticising us,” said the legislator.
