A police officer is recuperating at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital in Kisumu after reportedly being attacked by unknown people on Sunday evening.
The incident reportedly happened at around 8.30 PM.
This, according to a fellow officer, was shortly after the Administration Police (AP) officer had reported to work at the at the Kibos, Kisumu East sub-county Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) offices.
The officer was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood at the offices by fellow officers, who rushed him to hospital for medical intervention.
He reportedly lost his AK-47 rifle and 30 rounds of ammunition to the attackers who as well took away his wallet and phone, reports the same Citizen Digital, in an incident yet to be confirmed by either Kisumu County Police Commissioner Job Boronjo or his AP counterpart.
The attackers reportedly hit him in the head and back repeatedly, before making away with his belongings.
