Two children were among five people of one family who met a gruesome murder on Thursday evening after their car got a tyre burst.

The five were killed after their personal car burst one of its tyres at Kianugu area along the Nyahururu-Nyeri road.

Those killed were two children, a boy and a girl, their dad (who was driving the car) and two women.

The children’s mother survived the freak crash. A family source told this writer that the five were returning from a family gathering they had attended in Nyeri.

Witnesses said the car lost control after the tyre burst and rammed into a Nissan matatu.

No passenger from the matatu died. Those injured were rushed to  Nyahururu County Referral Hospital.
