Opposition leader Raila Odinga was on Thursday morning invited to Kameme FM for a live interview in order to shed light on a variety of national issues that continue to pop up in the political scene.
The interview that was broadcast by both Kameme FM and TV, had Raila explaining what he and President Uhuru Kenyatta have been up to since the famous March 9, 2018 handshake that has reconfigured the political landscape in the country.
Among the issues the ODM leader discussed include the 2022 succession politics which he dismissed as 'irrelevant' at the moment saying endless politicking doesn't help the country, adding it is time to work for the electorates.
On the ongoing anti-graft war, Raila reiterated that no one is above the law while rubbishing claims that the fight has been skewed and is only targeting DP William Ruto and his allies.
"There is no discrimination in the war against corruption. Nobody is being targeted especially on the dams scandal as some have been going around saying. All we are asking for is accountability," he said.
Raila also spoke on the ongoing rift in Jubilee Party, saying that is not the business that brought him to government.
"Jubilee have their own guidelines and processes that they follow just as we have in ODM. If there is a problem, they know what to do and I do not see how I feature there," he added.
However, Raila's appearance on Kameme FM seems to have elicited excitement among listeners with some affirming that indeed the handshake was working.
The station's official Facebook page (Kameme FM Official) was awash with hundreds of positive comments in praise of 'Baba' with many lauding him for the political serenity in the country.
Nevertheless, there are those who took his appearance on the station which is associated with the Kenyatta family with a pinch of salt saying it was 'suspicious'.
Kameme FM was instrumental in rallying Central Kenya voters behind President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto in both the 2013 and 2017 general elections.
Kameme FM breakfast show 'Arahuka' is among the most listened shows on Kenyan radio and most non-Kikuyu political guests who appear on the show will usually have a tailor-made message for the Central Kenya audience.
This is perhaps the reason Raila's appearance on the show isn't being taken by some as just like any other interview.
Here are some of the reactions to the interview.
