In his tribute, Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in power, described Collymore is a true friend and hardworking man. He said that he will personally miss the Guyana-born late boss after he died following a long battle with cancer.

The commander in chief of the armed forces said that it will be hard to fill the void left behind by the deceased.

He also promised to stand with the widow of the late boss, Wairimu Kamiru during this moment of trial. The President also challenged Kenyans to emulate the spirit of the late Collymore to impact on the lives of others.

“I am here today to join you in celebrating a great life. A man who one can say truly lived life. And lived that life not just in service of himself, his family but in service of society. Bob was a man born in Guyana yes, travelled via the United Kingdom to various destinations across the globe but finally he set foot and settled in Kenya 10 years ago and he has made a contribution as some have said here,” he said in part while holding back his tears.

Uhuru was joined by different leaders during the memorial including his Deputy President William Ruto and Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
