The outspoken power broker who resigned from his powerful position under unclear circumstances insists he does not regret stroking political fires in the ruling party.

Murathe, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, sparked off a political storm in Jubilee late last year when declared there exists no Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto on the 2022 polls.

The former Gatanga MP also said Mt Kenya owes Ruto no debt for having supported Uhuru for two terms, adding the populous region was shopping for a suitable partner to work with for the next general election.

Asked by the Sunday Nation whether he had made a U-turn on his controversial remarks, Murathe did not mince his words.

“No! Lazima tuambiane ukweli (We must tell each other the truth)" the former legislator remarked.

On his plans to block Ruto from vying for the top seat through Supreme Court, Murathe said he is still engaging his lawyers and warned that his silence should not be misconstrued to mean he has given up on them.

"Our legal team is working on the relevant legal arguments to present in court because the issue on whether a Deputy President can run in a presidential contest raises serious fundamental questions that must be addressed. But in the meantime, we will be starting with the constitutional court," he told Capital News on Thursday.
