President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined Kenyans in mourning the death of former Youth Enterprise Development Fund board chair Bruce Odhiambo.

Odhiambo died on Tuesday morning at the Nairobi Hospital.

Reports indicate that his death was as a result of heart complications. 

On Monday, Odhiambo was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit where he later succumbed to the illness.

In a tweet, President Kenyatta noted that Bruce was his friend and passed his message of condolence to the family.

"I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of my friend Bruce Odhiambo, following his death. Bruce shared his God given talents through philanthropy and many benefited from his generosity. May God give his family the strength to bear this loss," President Kenyatta tweeted.

Odhiambo was a close friend to the President, and was in 2014 appointed to chair the Youth Enterprise Development Fund board.

Their friendship dates back to when the two were classmates at St Mary's secondary school.
