The lawmaker argues that jobless young people are easily falling to terror activities out of desperation.

Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Sunday, Dahir said that terrorism will be a thing of the past if young people are given jobs.

The MP said that unless youth radicalisation is dealt with, terrorism will remain a problem in the country.

"The only way to prevent and effectively deal with terrorism is to tackle unemployment and radical teachings among the youth," the MP said.

The MP rooted for deployment of more security personnel to the Kenya-Somalia border, noting that porous borders could be giving terror agents space to gain entry into the country.

The Dadaab lawmaker also called for stern action against border officials allowing terrorists into the country.

According to him, Kenyans also have a role to play in combatting terrorism.

He said that no religion advocates for terrorism and perpetrators should be dealt with accordingly.

Dahir condoled with families and friends who lost their loved ones in the last week terror attack at DusitD2 hotel in Nairobi.

Investigations into the DusitD2 Hotel Complex attack are on top gear with several suspects already in police custody.
