Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua now claims that plans are in place within the Wiper party to sabotage his 2022 presidential ambition.
Speaking on Radio Citizen on Friday, Mutua alleged that the former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka-led side and other political rivals are out to paralyze his bid.
According to Mutua, his opposers who thrive on poverty among the people do not approve of his ideal based politics, which has overshadowed them and is threatening to further render them irrelevant.
He noted that they have contributed to his political woes, including untrue propaganda about his leadership, including claims that his 'chap chap' projects are weak due to the speed with which they are done, in a bid to reduce his winning chances.
"These people dislike me and my leadership because of my good development performance and are not happy about my speedy development to the people of Machakos. They cannot stand me because I am working differently," Mutua said.
"They are fighting me because they know that I will be in the ballot and will be the fifth President of this republic come 2022 and are now trying to hold me down to prevent that," Mutua added.
The second-term governor who is likely to face Deputy President William Ruto among others in the race is likely to take a shot at the top post on his Maendeleo Chapchap (MCC) outfit.
