The Bungoma Senator said that Makali's demise is not only a big blow to the family but also the entire nation.

He said that his prayers are with the family following the sad development. The senator promised to stand with the family during this tough moment.

“The Ford Kenya fraternity is saddened by the news of the passing on of William Wamalwa "big", son to our hero & leader, the late VP Wamalwa Kijana. To ndugu Eugene Wamalwa & family, pole sana. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.

Makali met his death at their palatial home in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County. Makali's uncle Robert Wamalwa said that Makali died after a long battle with diabetes.

He dismissed claims that the deceased was depressed, adding that such reports on social media are misleading.

"My nephew was diabetic. That could have probably led to his death but, of course, when the official autopsy is out we will be able to know what happened," he said.
