At Karen during the National Governing Council meeting which was chaired by party leader Raila Odinga, the team however, speared Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori who had also been recommended by NEC to be expelled.

Ms Jumwa, despite pleading with the party to spare her in previous attempts, is however yet to show remorse for allegedly going against the party's constitution.

"Party NGC unanimously votes to expel Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa from the party. The meeting however deferred the decision to expel her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori following his letter of apology to the SG @edwinsifuna in which be apologised to the party for his rebellion," the party wrote on Twitter.

"A special National Governing Council meeting in which Hon. Suleiman Dori will appear to present his case following his letter of apology will be held within the next 60 days," the party added.

Ms Jumwa, who served as Kilifi Women Representative in the last parliament, has been among key leaders for Mr Raila Odinga from the coastal region. She becomes the first MP in recent years to be expelled from a political party.

So thorny has been her issue that Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has often confronted her for her open support for Deputy President William Ruto, who is a likely competitor of Mr Odinga in 2022 polls.

Among others, Jumwa is likely to lose privileges in several house committees with the Parliamentary Service Commission committee being her biggest blow. She could also lose her seat and face a by-election.

Apparently, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, whom Jumwa has blamed for her woes, did not show up in the NGC meeting despite being deputy to Mr Odinga.
