Nurses have threatened to down their tools over an MCA's remarks in Makueni County.
Through the Makueni County Union of Nurses, they on Monday issued the Wote/Nziu MCA Felix Mateso with 72 hours ultimatum to apologize for the accusations he allegedly made against them some time back.
"We want Mr. Mateso to apologize to us as Makueni County nurses, failure to which we will take action. We will demonstrate and close all hospitals," said Muriuki Muriuthika, one of the union's leaders.
They addressed the press in Makueni on Monday.
Muriuthika said the nurses were angered by the MCA's claims at the assembly that they were not doing their work well after his demand at the facility for his sick relative to be given special treatment was turned down.
According to the nurses, Mateso visited Makueni Level 4 Hospital accompanied by a sick relative and demanded special attention from the nurses but they declined.
Muriuthika said the MCA was asked to follow the normal procedure just like other residents since his kin was not in critical condition.
However, Mateso has maintained that he won't make any apologies to them.
"I am not apologizing to anyone. I can only apologize to people who elected me," Mateso said.
The MCA made the remarks after the nurses issued the ultimatum stating that his sentiments need no apologies.
"I did not interfere with anyone's work, let our hospitals do their work and every person sweep their own house," Mateso said.
