President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday told off his critics from the Mt Kenya region for politicking at the expense of development.
Speaking when he launched the construction of Sh1.8 billion Naivasha to Njabini road in Nyandarua County, Uhuru said that he will not engage in sideshows when the electorate is looking up to him to fulfill several promises he made to the people when he was seeking election into office.
The head of state said he was elected into office to work and not to engage in empty talk.
He affirmed that he will not allow leaders without a vision to derail his agenda. The President said that he will make sure that the Big Four Agenda is accomplished before he thinks of anything else.
Uhuru further faulted leaders who have been hurling insults at him over his recent political engagements and promised to personally supervise the completion of some of the projects he has launched.
“Wananchi elected me to work for them and hence I will focus on what is my mandate. I will personally return to this place to come and inspect the progress of this road. Those who are politicking are doing so for their selfish interests,” Uhuru said.
Uhuru further said that he is committed to uniting the entire nation before the second and final tenure in office ends.
The head of state also said that the he is tired of endless violence and destruction of property because of political differences among a few individuals.
