Mlolongo sex workers do everything to attract clients and there are claims that they even seek services of witch-doctors. However, it is now emerging that men are disguising as prostitutes to cash on unsuspecting clients in the town.

Last week, a man received a thorough beating after he disguised as a sex worker and cashed Sh3,000 from an unsuspecting client in a pub at City Cabanas before being discovered.

Investigations have now revealed that some men disguise as sex works and lineup the streets to cash on clients.

Jane, a sex worker in Mlolongo says that it is not news that men disguise as sex workers in Mlolongo.

"They have been doing it for many years and get a lot of cash from unsuspecting clients," she says noting that men dress as sex workers, apply makeup and do everything women sex workers do on the streets.

"In many cases, these men look more attractive than the real women sex workers on the streets," Mercy, another sex worker says.

She observes that these men often give excuses after getting money from clients.

"They use every trick to solicit money and give excuses when the clients demand services," she adds.

Moses, a sex worker says that he has been disguising as a sex for the last five years. He operates at City Cabanas and Mlolongo town and admits that he was attracted to the business because of the cash.

The male sex worker says that it is often hard for him and others as there are times they are discovered and beaten up.

"It is hard to get money from a client and convince him that he cannot get services, Moses says.

Joseph, a sex worker says that they dress, walk and even talk like female sex workers to get clients.

"Many clients fall for us thinking that we are women and once we cash on them we use tricks to disappear," he adds.

Though they know it is a crime to disguise as sex workers they have no option but to look for money as poverty and unemployment has pushed them into the illicit trade.
