President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto joined forces, while Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka formed the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord), both sides of political divide determined to win the polls.

A few days to the elections, the Jubilee duo tried to woo Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi to their camp, with Kenyatta promising to step down and let the former become the presidential candidate.

However, Kenyatta later changed his mind after wooing Mudavadi to their camp and contested as the presidential candidate.

Surprisingly, Kenyatta later blamed the devil for promising to step down for Mudavadi.

Kenyatta claimed that he was coerced by some supernatural powers that told him the country wasn't ready for another Kikuyu president.

He told the party delegates at the Multimedia University that he promised to step down for Mudavadi for peace to prevail in gthe country.

Kenyatta said The National Alliance parliamentary group sat him down and forced him to rescind his decision.

His decision to rescind his promise made Mudavadi angry since he had already embraced the idea.
