Fatuma Gedi is the Wajir County Women Representative.
She is serving her second term in office having elected first in 2013.
Gedi is among vocal Somali politicians in North Eastern region.
She is currently at the center of investigations over alleged bribery in parliament that led to shooting down of a report on contraband sugar.
Gedi has denied claims of facilitating bribery of MPs to shoot down the report.
Here is a look at Gedi’s academic credentials.
She studied at Wajir Primary School before proceeding to North Eastern Girls High school.
The MP later proceeded to Egerton University and studied Diploma in Agriculture and home economics.
The vocal MP then traveled abroad and studied a Masters degree in Agriculture extension at the University of Reading, United Kingdom (UK).
The MP credits her success to her grandmother who she says took her to school when her parents separated.
Gedi says that she studied agriculture to help alleviate poverty and food insecurity in Wajir and North Eastern region.
Before joining politics in 2013, Gedi worked as a commissioner with the Kenya National Human Rights Commission (KNHCR).
She is also passionate about girl child education and human rights.
Political pundits argue that Gedi is among politicians who will shape the 2022 succession politics.
