The couple who have been married for almost six years are said to have had an argument about whose fault it is for their lack of children.

"Patient Beryl was brought with a cut wound on the hand which was stitched and later became gangrenous and it had to be amputated for it not to spread further,” said a nurse at the hospital.

Beryl who was married at Kimeri village in Suba North Sub-county at the age of 16, said the husband who had left earlier came back home and started the argument.

According to the young wife, cases of domestic violence had occurred in their home in the past but she did not know that it would be that serious.

Area legislator Millie Odhiambo had this to say about the issue; “I am actually outraged about what has happened, and I am even more afraid to learn that the husband is still roaming free. Immediately after this, we are going to ask the county police that they should arrest him with immediate effect.”

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.
