Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has made a new appointment in his Cabinet as he continues to constitute a team that will drive his agenda before the 2022 general elections.
In the new changes which he said take effect immediately, the county chief said he does not expect anything less of excellent service delivery to Nairobi City residents.
Sonko, the former Senator for Nairobi announced the changes in a statement which he shared on his social media accounts on Monday.
"I have this afternoon made changes in my Administration in a bid to improve service delivery to Nairobi residents," the governor said.
"I have formally appointed Mr Newton Munene as the new Commerce, Tourism, and Cooperatives Executive after the Nairobi City County Assembly approved his nomination. Mr Allan Igambi Esabwa, who has been serving as the Commerce, Tourism and Cooperatives Executive will now take over as the new Finance Executive. The changes take effect immediately."
Sonko has been under pressure to deliver in the county with is ranked the county with the highest population in the country.
Although he has made strides in improving service delivery in the city, he says he still faces challenges especially budgetary-related which have tended to claw back his efforts in transforming lives of Nairobi residents.
