In a video post that has been shared on the Facebook page linked to the controversial Jubilee lawmaker, Hon. Moses Kuria for DP 2022, the MP further asked farmers to stop complaining to the government over the issue.

The Cabinet approved Sh2,300 as the price the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) will be purchasing maize from farmers this season.

Several elected leaders and maize farmers from the region have since rejected the price.

"We buy one bag of maize at Sh1,500 in Uganda where government don't provide fertilizers to farmers. Why should they (Kenyan farmers) complain about Sh2,300?" asks Kuria in the video clip.

"We are consumers, my friend, stop complaining. Ours is to eat," he adds.

The MP who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto also jibes North Rift lawmakers who have been in the forefront fighting for farmer's issues.

He further points out that; "There has been no special sitting to discuss prices of rice, potatoes or vegetables. Then why sit to discuss maize prices?"
