Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru’s political eyes have penetrated post-Uhuru Kenyatta reign and seen that the Jubilee party will still be the party in power, after 2022.
Despite the wrangles facing the party at the moment, which pundits believe are likely to split the party, Waiguru is optimistic that whoever will fly the party’s ticket will be Kenya’s next Commander-in-Chief.
In that political matrix, Waiguru revealed that her political game plan is to be the next Mt Kenya kingpin.
"I see my role as making sure the 10 counties that make up the Mt Kenya region get their rightful place in the next government. We do not want a boardroom appointee to lead the region, but rather a person who is the choice of the people," she said.
Speaking to the Nation, the Kirinyaga county boss claimed that already two political camps in the country are warming up to her with goodies.
“I have at least two offers for the deputy president position, but it is not the right time to name the parties,” she said.
The governor’s remarks about the Jubilee party are contrary to that of ex-Bomet governor Isaac Ruto who thinks Jubilee will die soon.
Speaking on KTN’s Point Blank show, Ruto told the Deputy President to start shopping for another party for his 2022 presidential bid.
“Party owners like David Murathe may decide to kick him out.
"We would advise him to have more people on his side. We have seen the senior group gang up against him. For example, I have not heard it from Uhuru talk about supporting his bid. I used to hear him before but he has kept quiet for the last two years," he said.
