Deputy President William Samoei Ruto remains one of the potential aspirants who could succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022.
However, the recent political happenings in the country seems to frustrate and place roadblocks to his presidential bid.
Among those barriers include the unity of dynastic families, the handshake, Jubilee Party wrangles among other things seemingly working against him. But even as all this happens, two contenders for the presidency in 2022 places his bid in jeopardy.
1.Musalia Mudavadi
The soft spoken Amani Congress Party leader Musalia Mudavadi is a political bigwig who enjoys a cordial and working relationship with the president and ODM party leader Raila Odinga. His attendance at Bukhungu stadium during the launch of BBI has left pundit's tongues wagging.
As 2022 succession politics gains shape, Mudavadi could turn out to be the anointed one to carry the mantle.
Mudavadi shelved his presidential ambition in 2017 general elections in support of Raila. He was a chief campaigner and a pioneer founder of NASA movement. Should he be endorsed by both Raila and Uhuru, he will be a force to reckon with.
2.Gideon Moi
The Baringo Senator and KANU boss cannot be ignored. Gideon is considered a possible contestant in 2022 presidential race though he is yet to make the declaration open.
Hitherto, he enjoys a mutual relationship with both Raila and Uhuru. Rumour doing rounds has it that plans are underway to replace him with Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen as Senate Majority Leader.
He is now the BBI point man in Rift Valley, a notion that further drives in the wedge between him and Ruto who is his sworn archenemy. He obviously holds a different set of ideas in regard to BBI and being the Rift valley point man in the implementation of the report, he has some level of danger in sabotaging Ruto's bid.
