Football Kenya Federation (FKF) on Tuesday unveiled a Sh90 million sponsorship deal with betting firm Betika.
Addressing the media, FKF said they had signed a partnership deal that will see Betika sponsor the National Super League (NSL) for a period of three years.
During the sponsorship period, the second tier league will renamed after the betting firm, while all teams in the league will receive a Sh750,000 grant each season.
In addition to the grant, the teams will also receive training equipment including; balls, nets and kits.
"I am delighted with this deal because it is a sign of things to come. Our eventual target is to stop relying on government for funding even as we nurture these talents at the grassroots," FKF President Nick Mwendwa said as quoted by Nation.
On his part, Betika Head of Partnership John Mbatiah said the betting firm was keen to give back to the community, and support local talent.
"This partnership confirms our commitment to investing in our community through sports, arts, and culture with football being a key focus," Mbatiah said.
