Danish Demining Group (DDG) in partnership with the Mandera County Department of Deradicalisation and Countering Violent Extremism held a meeting in Elwak Town on January involving religious leaders across Mandera County.

The forum was mainly to discuss how to counter violence and extremism in Mandera County.

This comes in the wake of the Dusit attack in Nairobi.

Religious leaders also shared their perspective on how to combat the scourge of terrorism.

An agreement was reached to involve all stakeholders in programs aimed at shielding the county's youth from radicalisation.

Noted was the importance of religious leaders breaking their silence on issues of extremism.
