The fight against corruption may not be won under the current leadership of Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji and DCI George Kinoti, a Jubilee party senator has claimed.
This comes amid intensive crack on people believed to have engaged in graft-related activities with the latest being Sh21 billion paid for the construction of two dams in North Rift with no tangible work on the ground.
But Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot says Kenya should consider hiring competent people to hold the position, adding that the two are more of 'drama queens'.
"For us to win this war on corruption we need to hire an extra DPP and DCI. Competent ones who can prosecute their cases in courts. The current drama queens can be left to run the war on headlines and S. Media, where they do really well but that's just about it," he wrote on Twitter.
On Monday, Haji asked the Justice and Legal Committee to consider approving Sh5 billion in the next financial year for his department, adding that the money will help him hire competent prosecutors.
“To succeed in the fight against corruption, institutions mandated with the fight must be strengthened so that all corruption suspects are brought to book in record time," he said
President Uhuru Kenyatta has in the past assured the two offices that his government will empower them so that they effectively fight corruption in the country.
It is the first major attack on the two officers who assumed office recently and have apparently won the hearts of many Kenyans.
