A woman was on Tuesday arraigned in court over claims of stealing Sh1 million.
Emma Njeri Wangeci is alleged to have robbed Heena Manharlar Shah Sh1, 010, 000 in cash as well as other belongings in Nairobi's Westlands area on February 28, 2019.
Principal Magistrate Martha Anyona Nanzushi heard that the suspect also allegedly stole the complainant's iPhone worth Sh100, 000 and a ring worth Sh30, 000.
The prosecution told the court that the suspect is also alleged to have receives Sh755,000 in her Equity Bank Account, money that is reported to have been stolen from a complainant's Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) account.
The money was taken from the account of Dr Heena Juzar Hooker, reports Citizen Digital.
Wangeci also faced a separate charge of handling stolen property, which goes against section 322 (1) and (2) of the penal code.
She pleaded for lenient bail terms on grounds that she is singlehandedly fending for her 2-year-old son, with the judge ruling that she be released on a Sh200, 000 bond.
The accused, through her lawyer, told the court that she is a single mother. Justice Nanzushi set August 26, 2019 as the date when the case will be heard again.
