The Harambee Starlets have, against all odds, lifted the CECAFA Women's Challenge trophy after beating the Kilimanjaro Queens of Tanzania on Monday.
All goals were scored by Jentrixx Shikangwa, who scored twice, a penalty in the 70' minute and a lethal strike in the 81' minute.
The Starlets defence was solid, fending off the attacks of the hosts who kept misfiring and appeared to run out of options.
Both teams had maintained a solid unbeaten run until the final that saw Tanzania lose.
This victory will rank as sweet revenge for Kenya who lost to Tanzania in the 2016 CECAFA Women's Challenge.
The impeccable display came just a day after the Starlets were nominated for the Best Women's National Team by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Their coach David Ouma has been nominated for the Best Women's Coach of the Year by CAF.
For football-loving Kenyans, the CECAFA victory will be a great consolation to them after the Starlets were bundled out of the 2020 Tokyo, Japan Olympics qualification campaign.
Their Olympics campaign came to an end 3 weeks ago after suffering a 1-0 defeat to the Copper Queens of Zambia in the capital Lusaka.
The team has long decried inadequate support from the Ministry of Sports.
Starlets are not given the same support as their male counterparts, the Harambee Stars in spite of performing better.
