Outgoing Finance Minister Jackline Momanyi has dismissed claims that she was elbowed out of her office by Governor John Nyagarama, adding that she bowed out voluntarily.
In a phone conversation, Ms Momanyi insited that her letter to quit was approved on October 30th, further dispelling concerns that she might have been ejected.
"I resigned and the governor approved. I understand he did not mention that in his appointment of my successor but that's the truth.
"It's been tough but change of environment is important in career growth. Those peddling unsubstantiated innuendos are the same who are sabotaging service delivery in Nyamira."
But even before Friday's dramatic exit, Ms Momanyi had reportedly written resignation letter in August before Nyagarama prevailed upon her to rescind the decision.
In a text message to all her former workmates, Ms Momanyi, who is believed to have taken over a job in parliament, paid tribute and wished them success.
"Morning May I take this opportunity to inform you all that I resigned from the county on 30th October 2018. Thank u all for being a great team and wish u well in your daily and future endeavours. God bless," she wrote.
Nyagarama, who is struggling to stamp authority in his second term, appointed Trade and Tourism minister Peter Muga as substantive successor to Momanyi.
This now means that Mr Muga will have to relinquish his current portfolio to pave way for another appointment.
