Alleged plans to impeach Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i is not only ill-timed but also ill-motivated, former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has said.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday, Midiwo said that there is no way they can push for the impeachment of the CS yet he has not even been questioned by the office of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over his role in the fake gold scam.
He said that the leaders rooting for the ouster of the CS are only attempting to distract the general public.
“I think this are politicians trying to find relevance. This gold scam is a matter under investigation so how do we impeach somebody who has not even been questioned by DCI; I think that is a distraction,” Citizen TV quoted Midiwo in a tweet.
His remarks come after ODM alleged a plot by MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto to oust Matiang'i over the fake gold syndicate.
National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi said that he has information on the plan to send the CS home over his involvement in the saga.
Mbadi threatened to release more details on the same very soon as Kenyans wait for the truth.
“I have information that two nondescript MPs are being used to draft impeachment motion against Matiang’i. We know their schemes and we will deal with it accordingly,” said Mbadi, as quoted by the Standard.
