Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has warned motorbike operators working within Nairobi’s Central Business District.
On Friday, Sonko left a message for Bodaboda operators whose motorbikes had earlier been impounded by the Nairobi law enforcement team.
According to Sonko, he ordered for the release of over eight hundred motorbikes on June 1 during Madaraka Day celebrations. He noted that it doesn't mean they are free to operate within the CBD.
"I wish to clarify that the ORDER to release the impounded motorbikes DOES NOT in any way mean that I have allowed bodabodas back to the streets of Nairobi CBD, " Mike Sonko noted on his official Facebook page.
He further appealed to those who benefited from Sonko's order to always follow traffic rules and not to operate within the CBD. Sonko informed them that failure to comply will lead to their arrests.
"Those who have not picked their impounded motorcycles should present themselves at our General Stores Yard along Race Course Road and avail original ownership documents before they are allowed to collect their motorcycles," he added
This comes barely days after Sonko clashed with Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris.
