Deputy President William Ruto was in Nyamira County attending a series of events on Friday.
While addressing a crowd as Nyaigesa Primary School where he laid a foundation stone for the construction of West Mugirango Technical Training Institute (TTI), DP Ruto confirmed that the government will issue bursaries to local youths who will join the institution to get technical skills.
"The Jubilee government is committed to investing more in education. Parents should allow their children to enrol for various courses at the institution once its construction is done. The government will issue Sh30,000 bursaries to every student joining the school," said DP Ruto.
According to DP Ruto, the technical training institution will provide youths with appropriate and adequate skills, which are directly applicable in the workplace.
"This institution will increase competitiveness, promote access to the labour market, foster social inclusion and enhance self-employment. TVETs allow transition from school to work, technology transfer to serve the needs of a dynamic economy and create a pool of employable and in-demand human resource," he added.
Ruto stated that he won't stop anytime soon going to fund drives arguing that he has worked hard for the money he donates to churches.
He urged local politicians to shun retrogressive politics based on propaganda and political parties.
