A Mombasa woman has claimed that she was in a relationship with Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip who abandoned her after learning that she was pregnant.
Hanifa Were who sort help from the Muslims for Human Rights (Muhuri) said she fears for her life after the Senator threatened her.
Were who was speaking to journalists in Nyali, Mombasa County on Sunday said Senator Loitiptip started talking to her on Facebook, where they first met.
After exchanging contacts, later on the Senator offered her money and expressed his feelings towards her when she went to Nairobi.
The 36-year-old Were who was in Nairobi to take her 15 year old daughter back to school said the Senator asked her if they could meet at Thika Road Mall, which is near his residence.
“I went there and waited for him as he told me he was in a meeting. He came at around 8pm and since it was late, he insisted that we go to his house. I protested as I had no extra clothes with me but he said he would buy me everything. We ended up at his home and I spent the night there,” said Were as quoted by nation.co.ke.
The two started a relationship and while at Loitiptip house, the Senator one day said he could not return to his house because he was in an urgent meeting in Kisumu.
Were agreed with Loitiptip that she goes to Mombasa to her sister’s house because she could not live in that big house all by herself.
Were said the Senator never contacted her again and three weeks later she started feeling unwell and when she took a pregnancy test, it was positive.
“When I informed him, he became hostile towards me. I decided that I would keep my baby,” she added.
Later on in June, Were was shocked to learn on the Senator’s Facebook account that he was engaged to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's daughter Saumu Mbuvi.
When she commented on the post, the Senator on Facebook Messenger started sending her messages asking her to stay away from his family.
Later on, on three different occasions, Were said she spotted people close to Loitiptip outside her house and she showed journalists a picture of a man who was with the senator at an event and she said she was of the man outside her house.
“This is the man who has been following me. I fear for my life. I am afraid of Anwar. He is not a good person. We have heard of what these politicians are capable of doing. I don't want to be the next Sharon. Please help me,” she pleaded.
Senator Loitiptip has however denied impregnating Were and also denied allegations of threatening to kill her but confirmed he was in a relationship with her and he ended things.
