Emily Gesare, a mother of three kids has revealed that she doesn't regret engaging in the commercial sex trade.
Gesare said she left her kids with her parents in their rural home at Nyabonge village, Nyatieko in Kisii County to join the business three years ago.
She revealed that her husband chased her away from their matrimonial home on grounds that she was lazy and unable to work at the family farm.
“I was happily married for nine years before I separated from my husband who claimed that I was lazy. I had no option but to leave my husband’s home with my three kids, two boys and a girl in 2015,” she said.
Gesare said after living for two months at her parents’ home, life became hard since there was no food to eat. That is when she decided to visit a friend in Kisii town.
"Taking care of my three kids was hard as my parents were peasants who most of the time worked at people’s farms to get money to buy food. I came to Kisii town to check on a friend who told me to engage in prostitution to get money to provide for my family,” she noted.
She said she joined the business and left her kids in the village with her parents.
“I agreed to become a sex worker and through the trade, I have managed to buy half an acre of land where I have constructed a house for my kids and I am currently constructing a good house for my parents in the village,” said Gesare.
Gesare revealed that she makes between Sh2000- Sh3000 on a good day. She, however, noted that her parents don't know she engages in the illegal business.
