Murkomen poked holes into the proposed audit, claiming that it has a malicious motive and is most likely a scheme to victimize Deputy President William Ruto.

However, speaking on Citizen Radio on Wednesday, Nderitu laughed off the claims noting that Murkomen's observation is wrong, instead lauding President Uhuru Kenyatta brainchild as one of the best techniques against graft among state officials.

''Nataka kuwakosoa wanaopinga huu uchunguzi. Lazima watu walio maofisini waeleze jinsi walivyopata mali yao (no one should be opposing the audit, we must hold out officers accountable and have them explain the source of their wealth),'' he said.

The Senator further poured cold water on his Elgeyo Marakwet counterpart's argument that the audit remains illegal and should be legalized before implementation, noting that the same is not excuse enough, especially coming from a lawmaker.

Murkomen's claims came only a few days after his Nandi counterpart Samson Cherargei raised similar concerns, claims that have as well been swept aside by their fellow Rift Valley leaders Joshua Kuttuny and Alfred Keter who are MPs for Cherangany and Nandi Hills respectively.
