With the 2022 politics taking shape and leaders from various camps giving their assertions, it's an open secret that Deputy President William Ruto will be seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyata in 2022.
A number of the DP’s confidants have been going around the country lobbying for him.
Now, as the Ruto’s camp go on with their political strategies, the question of who will be his running mate in the 2022 polls is seemingly giving them sleepless nights.
That is so because a running mate has to be a person who has commendable political abilities and must hail from a different political region from his boss.
It will be a tough job for the DP to pick his running mate because his political nemesis are keenly waiting for him to announce or show interest in a person so that they can capitalize on the decision to attack him.
Perhaps, the second in command will have to wait until the last minute towards 2022 for him to announce his probable deputy.
Besides, the person must possess all the qualifications of a presidential candidate. This implies that the DP’s running mate must not come from the Rift Valley. Neither should he/she hail from western or any region near the DP’s home turf.
Political pundits have opined that the DP’s camp is having a serious headache trying to figure out who their running mate could be and where he/she should hail from.
