Lawyer Miguna Miguna has said that Harambee Stars should have not travelled to Cairo, Egypt to take part in Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hours to its kick off.
The controversial lawyer said that the suspicious death of Former President Mohammed Morsi is a clear indication that the leadership of this nation has failed its people.
He said that there is no reason for Kenya to associate with a nation where the first democratically elected President can die under unclear circumstances.
He also launched a scathing attack at ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga for meeting the players hours to the kick off of the competition.
“Following the crude and brutal murder of Egypt's first democratically-elected civilian president Mohamed Morsi by the military despot Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Harambee Stars should not have travelled to Egypt for a match nor should have the People's Con-Man. #DespotsMustFall,” he tweeted.
His remarks comes hours after Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama expressed confidence that the team is prepared to tackle its opponents.
"We are viewed as underdogs, but football has changed, and teams have proved that before. We respect our opponents a lot, but it will not be easy for them at all.
"It’s a motivation for us to be in the finals for the first time, and we are looking to give a good account of ourselves. It’s an opportunity for us to learn more from the finals,”Wanyama said as quoted by Standard.
