The political life of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominee for the Migori senatorial race Ochilo Ayacko heavily depends on his performance in the October 8 by-election.
He will give it his all towards ensuring that he emerges the winner in the race, as it is only that way that he will be assured of a win in the Migori gubernatorial race in the approaching 2022 general elections.
The former Sports Cabinet Minister vied for the top post in the August 8 elections but lost to Governor Okoth Obado, before filing a petition which he has since withdrawn to concentrate on his new push.
As a senator, the former Rongo lawmaker will be in a best position to succeed Obado who is on the verge of retirement as opposed to when he is outside, hence his move to turn down President Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent ambassadorial nomination.
His plan is to win and serve in the best way he can, in a bid to impress the people of Migori and hand himself an easy graduation into the top seat when the time comes.
As a Senator, he will also be in a position to publicly collaborate with ODM party leader Raila Odinga, as gaining the opposition leader’s trust in Luo Nyanza equals a direct election into your seat of choice.
As a Governor, Ayacko will find himself in the list of Luo Nyanza’s most experienced politicians and could finally be crowned the Luo political kingpin, if the plan works.
