Small-scale traders in Kisii County have protested hiked taxes they have been subjected into.
The traders led by Walter Onsongo claimed that the county boss Governor James Ongwae has turned to be a notorious thief.
"Ongwae's government is busy hiking taxes so that his close allies can get something to steal. Governor Ongwae must stop becoming a thief through hiking taxes which small-scale traders won't afford to pay," said Onsongo.
Mr. Onsongo said no trader will pay tax to Ongwae's administration until abnormal taxes are stopped.
"County tax collectors can collect revenue twice in a day claiming we must pay for development to be realized. We elected a thief as governor," he added.
Sabina Omweri, a hawker said on Monday revenue collecting officers gave her a chase after she failed to pay tax.
"I had to run for my dear life on Monday after tax officers from Ongwae's government stormed my place of work to demand tax. The ODM allied governor is using force to steal from poor traders," she stated.
Charles Oroo said Ongwae has until Monday next week to explain why his government hiking tax for small-scale traders failure there will be no peace.
